Painting Lafayette walls, creamy kitchen, and my kids on PBS

August 2, 2009

Unfortunately, I keep forgetting to take pictures of completed projects as they happen.

Debut of completed painting of main floor

That’s probably because I feel they are always up for finesse, then get busy with other things.

Anyway, I’m slowing down now to showcase culled photos of our wonderful times in our new house.

No longer does the house feel tired and gloomy.

Instead, it now feels happy and comforting, a haven from the crazy world outside.

My last report of July 7 happily announced the solution to our puzzlement of the color choice for the remaining portions of our open-concept main floor.

Between July 7 and August 1 the entire main floor was completed: the kitchen, family room, foyer, and stairwell!

Since my first photographic evidence of this accomplishment is from August 1, let me showcase those now.

Besides, these photos are better than anything else I could possibly stage.

Whereas our previous Becoming History presentation was our Memorial Day Civil War set against dirty lavender grey walls, that seemed like a perfect backdrop.

This time, our Becoming History presentation presented the Gilded Age, while debuting the heroically regal Lafayette golden-green. What a perfect combination.

EPILOGUE

A few months later in October, my kids’ were invited to be the first Skypers for Colonial Williamsburg’s Electronic Field Trip, live on PBS, set against our newly painted walls…
