Wanting to build an Americana collection, I sewed a bargello flag quilt for Flag Day.
I bought this pattern years ago at a quilt shop in Fredericksburg, Texas, on the roundabout in the center of town.
Meanwhile I’ve collected my favorite red, white and blue fabrics with this quilt and other American quilts in mind.
After completing the basic bargello flag, I auditioned fabrics from my stash to decide which I liked best for a background.
Surprised, I settled on this yellow, a print I’ve always loved, which allows all the colors to pop.
Since this was my first bargello quilt, I was nervous about slicing my completed flag with background into various widths.
Thankfully, it all worked out.
While auditioning the border fabric from my stash, I decided to create patriotic Ohio Star cornerstones.
