For my birthday I wanted a new blouse, so I dug through my fabric and pattern stash.
FABRIC, PATTERN, AND BUTTON STASHBUSTING
From the fabric stash I pulled a lovely 100% soft cotton white fabric with pink embroidered flowers I originally a purchase from Hancock Fabrics when I lived in San Antonio many years ago.
For the pattern, I settled on Simplicity 8090, view C.
Thinking that combination would pair well with my pale pink embroidered capri pants, I imagined it would be comfortably cute on journeys out and about with vintage flair.
SEWING PROCESS
Since Iām neither a fan of fiddling with sewing collars nor do I enjoy wearing blouses that have collars, I was pleased that everything came out well.
Since my Pfaff is impossible to use with the buttonhole attachment, I hand-worked the buttonholes.
At least that is good 18th century practice for me.
GLOUCESTER PHOTO SHOOT
Happily, I wore my new blouse on my birthday, along with my newly trimmed hat and my favorite capris.
On that day my kids kidnapped me for Gloucester for some 18th century journeys.
While at Rosewell Plantation, my daughter took some photos of me with my cell phone.
It was such a fun day, and one of our last warm days before the autumnal chills hit Virginia.
