And then…my clothes rack full of my dresses and our historical costumes crashed in the master suite clothes closet.
That’s odd, since I really don’t have enough clothes to cause the racks to come crashing down.
Nor is this the first time its happened, mainly because the rod was poorly installed.
With plans to upgrade the closet eventually, this crash pushed the renovation to the top of the list.
Texas master closet impressed the real estate agent
Knowing the simplicity of the project with many thanks to Closet Maid, we got our crash course in our Texas house a few years ago.
I loved the Closet Maid system which is variable according to the needs and interest of each customer.
When the real estate agent first toured our Texas house over a year ago, he took a ton of pictures of all our upgrades, especially the closet.
Though larger than some master closets, it was still on the small side.
However the organizers helped maximize the space.
Virginia master closet make-over
Now that we had this big crash, we thought we’d get push the job to the top of the to-do list and use the same products but reconfigure them to the dimensions of this closet.
In Texas we had used cherry cabinetry from Closet Maid from Lowes, which they no longer sell.
Researching on-line, I found it at Home Depot!
Although it’s called cherry, it looks lighter.
After taking everything out and patching the walls, we repainted the closet.
This house sat on the market six months in part because the walls were dirty. Not filthy, but dirty nevertheless.
I wanted to paint all the walls, starting with the closets before moving in, but shockingly the moving van arrived the day after we secured the keys to the house.
It is wonderful to finally have clean walls in the closet.
With this cabinetry, I have everything in one place with no need for extra furniture taking up space in the bedroom.
The header photo shoes the view of the upgraded closet, while looking at the closet door on the far left.
Panning to the right…I am now standing near the closet door and taking a picture of where I was previously standing.
Panning further right to the window in my closet is the new closet rod, more firmly attached than before.
This closet rod with hold all the Lafayette regimentals and wool cloaks my son will ever need…along with our other costumes and my dresses.
Now that’s what every gal needs, a window in her closet.
Although it makes little sense from the inside, it makes a little more sense from the outside.
The window above the front door is for the master closet.
Because the architecture is colonial, everything is symmetrical.
That picture was from Christmas last year, after our first blizzard…with more to come.
We think we are finally thawing out from 60″ of snow this season…a record!
