Designing our master bathroom, my goal was two-fold: French Country style with more practicality than the builder left us.
With a massively wonderful linen closet (on the right side of the photo), our bathroom didn’t lack for space but definitely needed better functionality.
When we moved in there was no medicine cabinet and only one sink on a long vanity.
Shower
We added eye-candy, such as limestone tile and bronze fixtures, which are a lot more interesting than white tile with chrome fixtures and white walls.
Completing the look I bought a black toile shower curtain for the new bronze shower curtain rod, hung from little bronze hooks.
Vanity
After the installation of the second sink in the long vanity, we replaced the unimaginative large mirror with French Country mirrored medicine cabinets, that hang onto the wall instead of inside the wall.
Behind the mirror, the outer portions are mirrored, reflecting light.
New bronze lighting with seed glass shades replaced the old Hollywood lighting on chrome panel.
Keeping the original cabinetry, we repainted them white, adding bronze French Country hardware.
An addition to the French Country feel included adding fluting to the sides of the cabinet, along with bun feet below.
The drawer panels under each sink, usually a false front, function by opening for storage of little wet items, like soap or what-not.
A limestone tile backsplash and faux black granite countertop complete the look.
All the old chrome builder-grade towel hardware was switched out with bronze.
Shelving
I designed a wall shelf cabinet, lined with beadboard, for the dead zone over the toilet to store towels and pretties.
Paint and Flooring
Completing the look was elegant limestone tile flooring and walls painted sage green.
