As sad as I was to leave the Outer Banks, the day after coming home I repacked to spend a few days with my son and his wife to help take care of their preemie daughter, who was one week old.
Although I cleaned all the dead wintery stuff from the garden in April before going to the Outer Banks, I wanted to finish my gardening prep for the year, before the baby’s arrival in June.
APRIL
While cleaning out all the dead plants, a clematis bloom kept me company!
MAY
Then boom! Our preemie arrived four weeks early!
So, beyond the first cleaning of the garden, I’ve neither watered nor weeded.
Only last summer I dug stones out of the dirt of the newly created garden just to plant flowers…which took weeks.
I thought this year I’d be on top of things, but oh well. My grandbaby comes first! =)
JUNE
While eating dinner on our deck last week, I spied flowers peaking over the edge of the decking at me.
When I took a peak tonight, my garden had grown wild!
These are the hostas that we transplanted last July when we had our front garden removed.
The few nights a week that I’m home, we enjoy dinner on the deck, then relax in our new furniture while watching the fireflies at night.
Stretching out on the chaise lounge, I work on my blog on the deck in this gorgous scenery.
I love the woodsy view!
Hopefully next year I can have a fresh go at my garden, to make it lower maintenance, with more flowers that peak over the edge.
Meanwhile my grandbaby is doing well, gaining two pounds since she was born a month ago!
She’s sleeping a bit less and starting to smile and play peak-a-boo.
