Beach Club at Whalehead our Outer Banks Lodging

May 22, 2024

Our rental at the Beach Club at Whalehead in Corolla was wonderfully decorated in a beachy way, so that I felt like I was on vacation…a goal of mine.

Knowing I wanted that feel, my hubby found this rental unit that provides everything, even beach umbrellas and a buggy to take them out with chairs.

Arriving at night, I’m aware of the nearby Currituck Lighthouse, because its beacon was intermittently flashing, a site I’ve never before seen.

KITCHEN

This kitchen space was more efficient than mine at home. What a great table for playing Outer Banks Monopoly, that I got at Harris Teeter down the road! Maybe next time we’ll play that game.

…and it had a pantry! Something else I don’t have at home.

LIVING AREA

The living area where I took a nap after walking the beach the first day and where I read my books on the rainy day…quite comfy with room to spread out.

Love that blue accent wall in this hallway to the bedrooms…master on the left, guest on the right.

MASTER SUITE

Comfy resting and sleeping in the evenings…

Great bathroom! On my shopping day I bought lovely seastars to create a shadow box like that. Now to find the shadow box.

GUEST SUITE

Great guest suite with room to spread out…

Two doors in this guest bathroom for flexibility depending on the type of tenants using the rental.

One door is to the guest bedroom and the other to the hall.

Since I think the living room furniture converts to bedding, so this bathroom can be converted to bedroom access or hallway access.

More shadow boxes for a sea star and sand dollar…though I haven’t found any for my collection, yet.

VINTAGE STYLING

The first morning I eagerly ate breakfast then headed to the beach, a very short walk from here.

OUTDOORS

Outside our rental unit are Virginia Dare roses!

The beach behind me, the lighthouse in front of me…and a week of fun in between!

Now it was time to leave in the rain that returned.

Admiring this view at the far end of our rental units, I decided to get a close up look while my hubby closed up shop.

Running north and south the length of the island is that main road beyond the trees.

Hydrangeas!

The entire week on this end of the island has been peacefully tranquil…just like this photo.

At this corner we turn off the main road onto a smaller one that takes us to our rental, the Beach Club at Whalehead, and if one keeps going, they are at the beach.

Directly across from our rentals is the Currituck Beach Lighthouse, Historic Corolla Village, and the 1920s mansion called The Whalehead.

Driving south on the main road takes you to my shopping area, Harris Teeter, Duck, the access to the mainland, Kitty Hawk, Roanoke Island, and more…

To see all this from a birds’ eye view, check these photos from on top of the lighthouse.

Goodbye lighthouse. I’m going to miss your comforting beacon.

We can’t wait to return…and even wish we could have a vacation house here to relax, read, and write!
