After painting the walls of my sons room to look like the Colorado Rockies, I knew I had to design a quilt to match.
I couldn’t find any patterns I liked on-line, so I designed my own.
Using some of the same techniques I did for creating the mural, I created all the parts of the applique, which I then machine stitched and appliqued onto the quilt.
Then I machine quilted cross hatches to replicate train tracks.
It was pretty simple to make, taking only a week to put together.
It has been very well used and worn over the years.
