Falling in Love during the Seasons of Virginia

November 7, 2021

WINTER

For the first time in a few years we had enough snow to make everything pretty, so my son drove me out to Tackett’s Mill Shopping Center so we could take some great pictures.

SPRING

And then a friend and I walked among springtime at nearby Westridge Pond.

Oh, how I miss a large house with property for gardens, so I love walking in the nearby neighborhood that has lots of spring flowers.

And then on another walk, I showed my friend the trail behind my apartment to the Occoquan River.

And then my friend and I hiked at Fountain Head Regional Park on the Fairfax County side of the Occoquan River.

While hiking into the woods, we found a 19th century cemetery to explore.

After shopping at Lake Ridge Nursery, I bought some plants for my balcony patio…

…which I strung with patio lights to enjoy in the evening, even from inside.

SUMMER

And then came the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, when my friend and I hiked in Fairfax County on the South Run Trail…

…and we hiked the Lake Mercer Trail, also in Fairfax County…

…and watched the sunset and fireflies during the summer solstice. Does that make it a midsummer night’s dream?

On a trip to the Shenandoah to meet up with friends from Front Royal, we watched a thunderstorm move across the Blue Ridge.

While watering my potted flowers, I saw a cute little frog peeking at me, so I removed the pot…

AUTUMN

And another walk at Lake Mercer during the beginning tinge of autumn.

For this year’s pumpkin, my son carved a scene from the night he and his fiancée viewed the night sky on Skyline Drive in the Blue Ridge Mountains
