A spot to share some quick favorite items that are vintage aka exquisite quality…
VIRGINIA BEACH – TAUTOG’S RESTAURANT
Endeavoring to find vintage charm on our first trip to Virginia Beach, we nailed it upon our discovery of Tautog’s Restaurant, a cute 1920s beach house quaintly styled as a coastal dining experience.
Keeping the historic charm of the original structure, this family run business adds a personal touch of friendly and efficient service.
While sitting on the porch on a moonlight night, we were bathed in the atmospheric lights strung about the property.
Our delicious food and amazing wine was uniquely topped by one of the wait staff who regaled us with fascinating details of the historic story of how different the view looked in the 1920s from our porch seating.
Completely intrigued by the atmosphere, we toured the inside then walked around the property to continue enjoying the ambiance after dinner.
I highly recommend this spot, pictured below…

MEANWHILE…
In between frequent trips to hold our sweet new preemie, I’m writing NEW content based on OLD blogs, updating links, ditching bad photos that I’m finding and organizing on my laptop…stories with more details…currently at the autumn 2011 mark!
Some days I’m helping with the baby, other days I’m home renovating the house…and in between I’m moving refreshed content to this location.
Now at 2016, I’m nearly caught up, actually, when this page will be converted to Vintage Charm Shout-outs! Stay tuned!
Short Story
All my friends told me to create a self-hosted site!
I’m slowly refreshing old blog posts with better photography, newer links, and epilogues that contain updated information.
My oft requested homeschool curriculum I wrote K-12 reveal in progress.
Long Story
My blog journey traveled far and wide on the internet:
2007-My blog debuts on Homeschool Blogger on July 9, 2007. I quickly made a lot of new friends. I learned html coding to design my blog.
2010-Homeschool Blogger suddenly moves to WordPress. Pretty stuff disappeared. Then weird coding errors appeared on the front end of all my blogposts.
2013-Homeschool Blogger moves to a private platform, so I move my blog to Blogspot.
2013-Photobucket changed the terms of service, which effectively made my photos impossible to see until I upgraded my plan. Seeing that Flickr had better options, I moved to Flickr.
2020-Blogspot suddenly removes all support and most abilities.
Self-Hosting Journey
Many of my friends recommended that I move to a self-hosted blog to end the ceaseless rug pulling out from under me.
Although doing that opened the door to opportunity, it also opened the door to a million and one questions about how exactly all this works. Starting from ground zero challenges provide a great learning experience.
Now finding long lost photos on my computer, I’m busy with the very time consuming but rewarding process of deleting the bad ones and organizing them with efficient labeling.
Then I industriously labored through doing a copy/paste of all the old blog posts at the old defunct platform to my hard drive.
Now that that is complete, I can focus entirely on this new website where I’m planning many new adventures!
Stay tuned as I refresh old blog posts to create a fresh new experience with the same theme of my love of the 18th century which inspires everything we do because of lessons learned of what to do and what not to do….with a greater emphasis on vintage and historical sewing.
I can’t wait to share with everyone all my recent sewing…and my brand new sewing room…another work in progress.
