When I taught third grade in San Antonio, we made a big deal of Fiesta, parading with homemade floats while bedecked in the best Fiesta attire.
From inside the crumbled walls of the Alamo, a voice booms the name of each of the defenders, one by one, .which is concluded with the poignant playing of Taps.
Whether they were part of a large group, or if they overheard and started gathering around, but there I was giving a tour of the Alamo history in the gardens!
