When the Lake Ridge area formed in 1971, parts of Tackett’s Mill was brought to this site to become the focal point for the central shopping area.
Yesterday, the kids and I visited George Washington’s office in Winchester, representative of Virginia’s western frontier.
After seeing a gorgeous rendering of the famous Natural Bridge of Virginia, and learning that Thomas Jefferson owned it, I’ve wanted to visit with the kids.

As we walked into the historic area, I was instantly charmed by the gorgeous Christmas decorations that I had heard about for years.
Insisting on taking his Lafayette costume, my son said he outgrew his old costume.
