We arrived at the quaint Lord Paget Motor Inn, with Georgian features like Colonial Williamsburg, less than a mile from the historic area.
We took a steep downward exit that bordered a rapidly flowing stream spilling over rocks and stones, twisting and turning through the mountains.
We spread most of our time among a couple of hikes, visiting gorgeous waterfalls, taking the main road over the mountains, and taking in all the elk.
Not a hurricane in sight when we left Texas. Once we arrived in Virginia three hurricanes, Alex, Bonnie, and Charley, drenched our vacation over 2 weeks.
For miles we saw a patchwork quilt of tans and greens on the ground far, far below. Overcome by the view, we sang America, the Beautiful.
Staying overnight at the beautiful Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort…living in the Hill Country with French-Country Texas charm became my hope.
