My son had another fabulous Sunday School teacher, with a unique creativity that perfectly fit in to our our dialectic studies.
Always easy to spot in church, Mr. M________ always dressed in Battle Dress Uniform (BDU) aka camouflaged military uniform…for a reason.
Explaining to the boys in his class of spiritual warfare, Mr. M_________ taught the boys about spiritual armor, according to the Bible.
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. -Ephesians 6:10-18
MILITARY DOG TAGS FOR EACH OF THE BOYS
Then, Mr. M had special military dog tags specially imprinted for each of the boys
My son’s has his name, the date he was born, Soldier of Christ, and the date he took Jesus as his personal Savior.
Inspired by the tags and Mr. M_______’s BDU, my son bought a camouflaged Bible cover.
In weekly Sunday School classes, Mr. M________ regularly taught applicable lessons from the Bible to further the boys’ spiritual growth aka meat.
But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. -Hebrews 5:14

I appreciate how Mr. M___________ is a great role model and picture of Christ to my son and the other boys, teaching them how to become men.
But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. Hebrews 3:13
Since distinctives of classical education include studying the Bible and making connections, Mr. M________ made the most of both while teaching about spiritual warfare.
