After luxuriating on Carlsbad Beach for a few days while visiting my hubby’s mom in memory care, we enjoyed lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant in Rancho Bernardo then we turned south to San Diego Bay.
Dropping me and our bags off after checking in to our highrise hotel on Harbor Bay, my hubby efficiently returned the rental car and came back via hotel shuttle.
Now that I’m almost as far south as one can be in California, on this July afternoon near the Pacific Coast I was still chilly.
BOATS GALORE
Nevertheless a light jacket helped me endure the chill as I sat on the balcony to watch all the boats on the water.
With the airport right behind us, we had downtown San Diego to our east, the bridge to Coronado Island south of us, and Point Loma to our east, all the boats floated before my eyes.
I watched a sailing school of several little boats while a huge naval vessel came slowly through.
Looking forward to our walk to the other side of the island for dinner to more fully enjoy these gorgeous views, I saw the clock tick away…my hubby was delayed due to slowness a the car rental place.
AMAZING C LEVEL LOUNGE
So he contacted his cousins, who were going to meet us at the restaurant, who said they’d pick us up.
Before nightfall we were again seated around a table at C Level Lounge on Harbor Island, looking over the bay.
Although I’m not into fish, I’m so glad I ordered this particular dish: Macadamia and Coconut Mahi with seabeans, roasted pineapple salsa, and yuzu beurre blanc with forbidden rice.
Wow! The seafood was amazing. Wish I had taken a picture but completely forgot and ate everything up.
I would love to try to recreate this dish, but I doubt I could ever pull that off.
I’ve already searched high and low for the unique ingredients, that I cannot find near me.
The cousins keep promising me dinner at the sister establishment next door, that serves Mexican. Meanwhile on the other side is another sister restaurant that serves steak.
I think I could dine at this one location forever and be happy! And I’d get plenty of exercise just walking on this very long island!
We definitely had a great visit, that began when they joined us in Oregon for the memorial service.
Too soon it was time to part.
