After moving into my new apartment nearly two months ago, I quickly unpacked and organized a sewing space in my bedroom…since my son is in the other bedroom.
Then I shopped for a few new things to fill in blank spaces, like this welcome sign from Hobby Lobby, which greets everyone coming through the door to the apartment (not seen left of the photo).
Directly across from the sign is a small coat closet with bifold door…then my bedroom sewing room.
I’m debating on sheer curtains with valence at this blank window, but the apartment said I’ll have to pay for any holes in the wall…which is extreme.
When I lived in apartments in San Antonio, we were allowed holes to hang pictures…and nice drapes came with the apartment.
All it takes is a quick bit of spackle to cover the nail holes before repainting for the next tennant…um, don’t they do that?
People want to live, not exist.
Oh well, the cute typewriter with flowers print was purchased at HomeGoods, which reflects my love of writing and flowers…with a calendar I can fill with an eraseable pen to the side of that.
My old desk has been converted to a sewing table which overlooks a gorgeous view of the woods.
On the small table are the fabrics laid out for my current autumnal Blue Ridge Mountains quilt.
I purchased the cute little dresser shown in the header photo from Hobby Lobby, which doubles as my pressing area for quilt piecing.
The wicker baskets in the corner contain surplus supplies and projects, while the door leads to a walk in closet…the only reason why I chose this room.
The bookcase contains fabrics for home decor and quilting, while the small etagere holds all my sewing books.
Outside my doorway is a cardboard box, since I’m still purging stuff for the Salvation Army and used bookstore.
That doorway leads to the bathroom…which caused me pause, thinking through taking the other bedroom which has more wall space, since the adjoining bathroom is across a tiny hall, and much larger with a countertop vanity sink. Oh the choices!
Now that I’m actually sewing in this room, I’m thinking through other options.
Meanwhile, I need to find time during the day with better lighting to take better photos!
