When we first bought this house, it was in sad need of paint to brighten and clean up the walls.
Then I happily unpacked my pretty French Country items from Texas.
Since it’s difficult to find similar French Country items in Virignia, it’s rare that I find something new.
Until I discovered Van Ech Studio in Occoquan, where I found these lovely French Country mirrors and crystal knobs that nicely coordinate with the candle holders from a cute gift shop in Gruene, Texas.
WHERE TO HANG MY FRENCH COUNTRY WALL-ART
Pondering over exactly where to hang them up, I finally decided this huge bare spot in the dining room between the hutch and the garage door, and eventually the foyer and living room would be a great spot.
HOW TO ARRANGE MY FRENCH COUNTRY WALL-ART
To determine layout, I laid the pieces down on the table and arranged them in various ways, until I found my favorite, of which I took a photo, for reference.
EASILY DETERMINING WHERE THE NAILS GO IN THE WALL
The trick to hanging a vignette of wall art is to use a large sheet of paper, like from this roll of paper.
A friend of mine sourced a few free end rolls from a printing company near her home in Texas, of which she obtained two, this one and another which is much wider in width
Raving about it, she shared one of them with me, which easily fit into my car for my 150 mile drive home in 1998. 😉
Yes, I’ve hauled it from Austin, to Wichita Falls, and then San Antonio, and finally brought it to Virginia.
Handily used for odd projects over the years, this proved to be another great time to pull it out!
Laying out my pre-decided arrangement first, I measured the width of paper I needed, which I cut from the roll.
After laying the paper on the table, I again arranged my pieces as I wished.
While I traced around them, I could have also marked the center but these were easy enough for without that extra step.
After I trimmed the paper down, I moved it around on the wall until I found the ultimate position.
Then I taped the paper to the wall and hammered in my nails, after which I gently tugged the paper from the nails.
Finally, I hung my French Country wall-arton their nails!
Foyer-living room view from the dining room…
Angled view of the hutch in the dining room…
Hmmm, I should take another photo of the entire dining room, which I’ll try to remember to do, because I love the effect!
