For the first time this year we eked out some time for a beloved trip to Colonial Williamsburg!
I’m not sure what happened apart from the busy-ness of collegiate life: actively for my daughter while my son is in preparation mode.
Now both have obtained summer jobs, which means less time than ever for our historic journeys.
Since they are now of age, my kids will march to the beat of the 18th century while pursuing their future in this crazy post-modern world.
Meanwhile, for the respite of this weekend, we enjoyed a bit of the past.
JAMES ARMISTEAD LAFAYETTE
We enjoyed old favorites like the James Armistead Lafayette story, a moving story of a slave who became a double agent for the Continental Army…and for that he secured his freedom.
MILITARY REVIEW
DRUMMER’S CALL
And then Friday through Saturday nights, we enjoyed lots of wonderful Drummer’s Call programming!
PEYTON RANDOLPH HOUSE
At the Peyton Randolph House we were sweetly welcomed by the interpreters who gushed over the kids, whom they said they always enjoy seeing walk by on every single visit we make.
CAPITOOL
We toured the Capitol, always a great review of history!
GOVERNOR’S PALACE GARDENS
And we took our annual photo shoot in the spring gardens!
COLONIAL FRIENDS
We met with George Washington…
…Mann Page…
…and visited with a colonial friend!
Warm memories to take home as my kids pursue their future lives in the modern world.
