As many visitors left during the anthem’s opening, I boldly put my hand on my heart and sung the anthem, hoping that I wouldn’t get terribly off key.
It served as the nation’s capital, at the end of the American Revolution, from November 26, 1783, to August 13, 1784, under the Articles of Confederation.
My son found the French ship, La Ville de Paris, which was part of Admiral de Grasse’s fleet at the Battle of the Capes in 1781.
