As we toured Marjorie Merriweather Post’s couture gowns from 70s years of the 20th century, Hillwood Estate revealed where fabulous lives.
The collection began in 1912 with the dream of two ladies, one of whom was the great-granddaughter of President James Monroe, Rose Gouverneur Hoes.
Today we visited the Hillwood Estate Museum and Gardens to see Pret-a-papier, an exhibit of stunning historic gowns and accessories made from paper.
Variations of white muslin gowns were on display, from the first decade of the 19th century, my favorite of which was paired with a royal blue velvet spencer.
