As we crossed the Susquehanna River on our return to Virginia from Lancaster County, light rain pelted the car by Tropical Storm Lee, soon to bring destruction.
Missy found Miss Dolly in the bedroom, picked her up in her mouth, went to the sunroom where my daughter was, and dropped Miss Dolly in my daughter’s lap.
We arrived in Virginia a year ago feeling like Texans. A year later we feel like Alaskans, instead of Virginians with 3 record breaking blizzards.
Whoever wins the game writes their name in the lid with the year, which creates great memories. Then the winner gets to choose a new game.
Now that we got 20 inches of snow for our first Christmas in Virginia, we added a taste of Texas…tamales, a San Antonio tradition for Christmas Eve.
Now that we live in a colonial-inspired house in Virginia, I wanted to incorporate Colonial Williamsburg style into our Christmas décor.
We are already reaching depths of snow that top the top 5 December snowfall accumulations, none of which are in my lifetime…until now!
Because she was my constant companion, my kids called her Mom’s Shadow.
Likening her love to The Velveteen Rabbit, we relived happy memories.
With everything bedecked with patriotic red, white and blue, I love hand-cranked ice cream, grilling dinner, George M. Cohan, and fireworks on Independence Day.
