Remembering 2004 when I led my young children on their first journey through the historic area, I had fun watching my kids carry on the tradition.
Since they are now of age, my kids will march to the beat of the 18th century while pursuing their future in this crazy post-modern world.
In between Drummer’s Call events, we saw the sewing of the First Oval Office, Washington’s marquee tent, and Benedict Arnold called my son to the stage.
Before evening retreat was called, the fife and drum corps marched past the taverns, beating out the signal to “turn off the taps.” which assimilated to tattoo.
Returning to the Visitor Center, we walked by the pond behind the Randolph House, where even the frogs get into the spirit of Drummers Call!
After Drummer’s Call Tattoo we walked by the pond where we heard the deep bass of the bullfrogs in harmony with the higher croak of the smaller frogs.
