Blue rococo trim with green ruched ribbon: 18th century hat

May 15, 2011

A couple of months ago, I quickly trimmed this simple 18th century hat in the hotel for a quick last minute costume opportunity.

As much as I like this simple trimming, I’ve envisioned a few additions.

Why not?

Deconstructing and reconstructing is an 18th century period accurate thing to do!

Therefore, I thought I’d share the progress of alterations and different looks from one hat!

The key element I wanted to incorporate into my hat was the use of ruched ribbon, which I learned at my hat trimming class with the Costume Design Center last year.

Super easy to do, I’m now in love with this hat!
