Video Tour of my Glam Closet and 1950s Dresses I’ve Sewn

August 24, 2026

A few weeks ago I posted a video tour of the historical clothing I’ve sewn from the Middle Ages through the 1940s, located in one of the IKEA wardrobes I wallpapered.

In the second of my IKEA wallpapered wardrobes, I have stored all my dresses for daily wear, including the 1950s and 1960s dresses I’ve sewn.

Thus, I have posted a video tour of those dresses, which can be accessed at this link in my youtube channel.

My 1950s styles include my Audrey Hepburn remake, in lilac silk dupioni, two Horrockses dresses in 1950s reproduction fabric, and a 1950s style sewn in red/black changeable taffeta which is fun to wear for Christmas and Valentines.

From the 1960s I featured a blue and white gingham embroidered dress with sailor collar and circle skirt, as well as a 1960s corduroy jumper like one Audrey Hepburn featured in her movies.

I also showcased some other contemporary styles to which I added some vintage flair…one of which I still need to do a specific blog post on.

That would be my matching top and skirt of royal blue crepe with periwinkle and lime polka dots.

I also showed a 1940s blouse, a 1950s blouse, and a 1950s sundress that are almost completed but need buttonholes.

Alas, my sewing machine’s buttonholer doesn’t work, so I need to handstitch the buttonholes, which I simply haven’t gotten to yet.

Many of these dresses are detailed at this link.

The other dresses in this closet are off the rack…but I’m SO looking forward to replacing them with newly sewn 1950s dresses.

One of my sewing goals is a collection of a variety of little black dresses…oh the ideas I have! But so little time. We’ll see.
