KITCHEN SHELVING
When Larry helped us upgrade our kitchen last January, we focused on my busted shelves in the cabinets.
While installing shelving the uppers, he installed pull out drawers in the lowers.
FRENCH COUNTRY ISLAND
Meanwhile I looked for a French Country island to replaced the giant microwave cart, that we had to move every time we tried to access either of the lower cabinets.
Finding the perfect dream island on Wayfair, it was sold out, so I requested an email to be sent when they had more in stock.
The day before Easter, I looked at my saved page of the island, where I discovered they were in stock!
Putting in an order, it never took, since someone had just beat me to the last one.
When they were again put on backorder, I realized this would be a cat and mouse game.
Weekly I checked my saved page…
Then life got busy with my helping with my preemie granddaughter.
In between visits to my son and his wife, I’d check my saved Wayfair page, where I found it available again!
Placing my order, I learned it comes with white glove delivery, fully assembled and placed where ever I want it in the house.
The day the guys came to deliver it, they pulled it out of the box to assemble but found broken parts from shipping.
They called Wayfair to explain the problem, then put me on the phone.
When asked if I wanted to reorder or cancel, I said I’d reorder.
That meant waiting another month, when finally it arrived to the same company who delivered it the first time.
This time, they assembled it in the shop, loaded it onto their van, and within minutes brought it safely up the stairs and placed it in front of my kitchen window!
It’s a beaut!
I’ve had this recipe box on top of the island for years, since my Texas house. I bought it in Gruene. But now it’s falling apart, so I’m looking for something similar to replace it.
MICROWAVE
While waiting for the island, I hunted for a smaller microwave to place on our countertop.
The rest of this section of counter top is my hubby’s coffee and toaster station.
DECOR
To save space on storing spices in the cabinets or drawers in this little kitchen, I purchased black wrought iron racks from Wayfair last January to arrange them on the wall.
From Hobby Lobby, I recently purchased the fruit and rooster to round out the French Country look.
The heart teaspoons hanging from the bottom spice rack was purchased years ago in Gruene.
I bought the other heart, under the rooster, so many years ago, I forget where.
COOKBOOK STAND
Wanting a French Country cookbook stand like I used to have, I found one I loved at Wayfair, which soon arrived.
MY OFFICE
Upon purchase of the house, this room was hot pink.
After it was painted sage green, it was decorated in gray modern.
Then we got married and I moved in, inheriting this guest room as my part time office.
Depressed by all the grey and modern, I transformed the room into a light and airy French Country style.
I’m still looking for the best pillows for the bed, but I’ve made lots of progress.
I’m still organizing things, in between visits with my newest granddaughter, a preemie.
From Hobby Lobby I purchased the *farmhouse modern cabinet, the nightstand, the clock, and the *wall art.
The *etagerie came from Home Goods.
The *day bed, bedding, rug, black desk, and chair came from Wayfair.
I purchased the *lamps came from various local shops like Homegoods and At Home.
The window treatments came from The Vermont Country Store.
(Asterisks indicate I brought them with me.)
It was so nice to get some decor items out of piles to actually use and enjoy.
Lots more work to do but this is a step forward!
