While waiting for chalk paint to dry on my IKEA PAX wardrobe makeover, I decided to chalk paint my curio cabinet.
And…a peak at my new sewing room which is a huge work in progress!
Meanwhile it made a great painting space for this project.
After I first purchased this curio cabinet from Hobby Lobby a few years ago, I used it as a DVD cabinet.
Since we have plans to build DVD drawers for under the big screen tv upstairs, I’m now going to use this as a notions cabinet for my sewing room.
From VanEch Studio at Occoquan I purchased some more Jolie Paint, this time in a different shade of white: antique white.
Wanting to keep the look rustic, with the bare wood showing through, I did a light dry brush.
Surprised at how yellow it looked, I added some palace white to the antique white, then thinned it out with some water, hoping to tone down the yellow.
Now I’m thinking of decoupaging the sides with some French Country motifs from VanEch…
EPILOGUE 2025
Our fixer upper has backlogged the DVD drawers, I ended up moving this cabinet upstairs to hold my DVDs, which are very vintage in nature.
Meanwhile my hubby has his heavy action DVDs in yet another cabinet.
Since DVDs and CDs are going by the wayside in lieu of streaming, it’s difficult to find nice storage options that don’t take up a lot of space.
Although we’ve considered streaming, which we sometimes do, I always miss the special features on my DVDs.
Additionally, I’m rather annoyed when some movies can’t be found anywhere, so we are keeping my DVDs.
Now that we’re beyond some fixer upper projects, I’m starting to reassess how we can cleverly return to our first idea for DVDs v my notions!
