Rufflicious Pink and White Flannel Quilt with Minky Backing

May 13, 2017

After I sewed a quilt for my first nephew, he carried it around everywhere and called it his Aunt Laurie Quilt.

When my second nephew was born, I sewed a quilt for him too.

However, I neglected to sew one for my niece, due to teaching high school.

Since the kids and I will be in San Antonio at the end of the month, I’m making a quilt to give my niece.

After visiting several stores, I finally found some cute pink flannel with a variety of small designs.

Since I had no idea how many squares to cut, I estimated in my head and kept working on it until it seemed right.

For the back, I’m using a soft pastel pink minky.

When I stumbled upon pastel pink gingham silk ribbon, I bought some to use as a ruffle along the edges.

Then I secured the layers by tying off with embroidery floss in pastel pink.

It seems rufflicious to me!
